We closed the spring walking season with stories from Ferencváros.

On Friday, we immersed ourselves in the world of Ráday Street. Starting from the memory of the old Széna market, we traced how the former trade route became the cultural axis of Ferencváros. Along the way, we learned about the architectural values of the street, recalled the works of József Hild and Miklós Ybl, gained insight into the Pince Színház, and then the special chocolates from MyChoccy made the afternoon even sweeter. We concluded our walk at the 2B Gallery, viewing the current exhibition titled "Drifting Crevice." By the end of the walk, it became tangible for everyone why the area deserved the name "KultUcca."

On Saturday, we discovered the calmer, greener side of Ferencváros. We began our journey within the walls of the St. Francis of Assisi Church on Bakáts Square, then made our way to Ferenc Square through the charming Tompa Street. During the walk, we talked about the flood of 1838, the reconstruction of the area, the ongoing transformation of the district, and the community spaces that make Ferencváros one of the most livable neighborhoods in Budapest today. It was especially delightful to visit Tompa Street 17, where we experienced warm hospitality, and also the Künst Bistro, where we gained insight into the world of Portuguese wines. Both places exemplify the creative and community-building spirit of the district today.

With these two walks, we have concluded the thematic walking season for spring 2026. We are grateful to all our participants, partners, and hosts who joined us over the past months. It was a good feeling to see so many people curious about the well-known and lesser-known stories, streets, and communities of Budapest.

Now a short summer break follows, but we will return in the autumn with new routes, new stories, and new discoveries.
