This year's BUM map is now available online in a new format
In 2013, the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry founded BUM - Shopping and Thematic Streets Management, whose main mission is to strengthen the capital's thematic streets, to promote and unite such initiatives, to strengthen and develop the trade of specific areas and to increase the number of visitors to the streets. Budapest currently has seventeen unique and special thematic streets, small and large districts, which combine tradition and innovation, quality and quantity, commercialism and people-oriented style.
The last few years and decades have seen many changes, with the emergence of malls and hypermarkets transforming shopping habits in our country. However, like any big city, Budapest cannot exist without modern retailers building on tradition. Since the launch of the Budapest Thematic Streets, more and more people have recognised the importance of these common goals and are working to ensure that the streets and local businesses offer a more meaningful and higher quality service to visitors and shoppers. This cooperation has been reinforced by the epidemic and economic difficulties of recent years.
The BUM map was created to promote the thematic streets and offer tourists an alternative programme of activities. Nearly 1.4 million copies of this free publication have been published so far. However, as the number of streets has grown, so has the content to be displayed on the map, so a new format was sought.
