The Szemle Plusz will once again bring the most exciting theatrical performances from the Carpathian Basin to the Városmajor Open Air Stage and the Crystal Stage between August 24 and September 5. At Budapest's largest outdoor, jury-awarded theater festival, the freshest creative voices and defining ensembles will meet again this year.
The competitive program in Városmajor features six outstanding productions, including the Komáromi Jókai Theater's A Market Day, the Berehove Municipal Hungarian Drama Theater's REVISOR РЕВІЗОР, the Târgu Mureș National Theatre's House Between the Blocks, the joint production of the Maladype Theatre and the METTRIN Art Center, The Suit, as well as the Weöres Sándor Theatre's In the Shadows and the Budaörs Latinovits Theatre's performance of Cyrano de Bergerac. A strength of the 2026 selection is that several directors and ensembles that have not participated in Szemle Plusz before will introduce themselves to the festival audience—nine directors and three ensembles will feature in the competitive program for the first time.

The Crystal Stage's chamber program awaits the audience with six unique chamber performances: Siege Dress, Danuta W. – The Female Face of Solidarity, Just Step In, Jancsikám!, Summer Journey, Drive, and The War of Klamm offer new perspectives through personal stories and contemporary theatrical forms.
An important part of the festival is the OFF program, where students from seven performing arts training programs present their exam performances. Audience meetings and professional discussions complete the series of events, which year after year provides a space for the encounter of different creative generations, theatrical languages, and regions.
