Our renewed map from last year is now available online

The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry established the BUM – Management of Shopping and Thematic Streets in 2013, whose main mission is to strengthen the capital's thematic streets, to support and coordinate such initiatives, to enhance the trade in specific areas, and to increase the foot traffic in the streets. Currently, in Budapest, there are eighteen unique, special thematic streets, larger or smaller urban areas where tradition and innovation, quality and quantity, commercial perspective and a people-oriented style coexist harmoniously.

The past years and decades have brought numerous changes, as the emergence of malls and hypermarkets has transformed shopping habits in our country as well. However, just like any major city, Budapest cannot exist without modern retail establishments that are built on traditions. Since the launch of Budapest's thematic streets, more and more people recognize the importance of the above common goals, and increasingly more efforts are being made to provide the streets and local businesses with more meaningful and higher-quality services for visitors and shoppers. This cooperation has been emphasized by the pandemic situation and economic challenges of recent years.

The BUM map was created to promote the thematic streets and to offer an alternative program for tourists visiting the area. This free publication has been distributed in nearly 1.5 million copies so far. However, as the streets have expanded, so has the content to be displayed on the map, leading us to design a new format in 2024, and we have already renewed it this year.
