Nearly a hundred people joined us in March as part of the Spring Thematic Walks.
Between March and May 2025, we will treat you to four walks each month, where we will get to know our new and familiar streets more closely. As always, I would like to start this report by thanking you for joining us on these walks. The pleasant atmosphere is thanks to both the participants and the hosting businesses, the wonderful tour guides, and the entire organizing team, as well as the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry for making all of this possible and supporting small entrepreneurs. On the first weekend of March, we visited the I. district in Víziváros on Friday, and on Saturday, we were in the VIII. district in the Palotanegyed! Our Friday walk in Víziváros started from Iskola Street, where we got to know the wonderful Rajkai Espresso! János Unk shared its truly unique story with the group. From there, we explored three squares (Batthyány Square, Szilágyi Dezső Square, and Corvin Square), listened to their stories, admired their buildings, and then concluded our walk at the House of Traditions, where there is a special building presentation tour that takes place once a month.
On Saturday, we continued our adventures in the Palotanegyed. We started from Lőrincz pap square, where we sneaked into the Jesus Heart Jesuit Church as a wedding was just beginning. Then we could see the foyer of the Zichy Palazzo. After that, we arrived at the TOBE Gallery via Horánszky street, where we uncovered the history of several buildings and where Opitz Tomas talked about the purpose of the gallery and the current exhibition. We continued our journey on Bródy Sándor street, where we were hosted at the Apricot Cafe. We learned how this small yet interesting café operates with a lot of heart and attention as a family business, and we even received a truly delicious tasting. After that, we headed towards Polláck Mihály square, and going up Bródy we also checked out the Italian Institute and a few interesting buildings. At Polláck Mihály square, we discussed the Festetics Palace, the Radio building (Esterházy Palace), and Károlyi Palace. Finally, after Ötpacsirta, we arrived at Szabó Ervin square.
On March 21 and 22, we visited the V. district on Falk Miksa Street and then the VIII. district at Rákóczi Square for the first time! On Friday, we hunted for treasures in the Art & Antique Street, specifically Falk Miksa Street. We specifically visited galleries where many small items awaited discovery. Our walk began with the famous detective, Lieutenant Columbo, and then we continued up Falk Miksa Street toward the Parliament. Our first stop was Moró Antik, where we could discover mainly eastern objects, although all kinds of swords and canes were available, just like in Mr. Chocolate's world. Lajos Moró gave us an exciting presentation while sharing some intriguing details about his life. From there, we continued along Falk Miksa Street and stopped by Hári Anikó. Horváth József told us about her beautiful and unique jewelry, as well as how they select and where they find the materials they work with. Although their shop is small, our group learned special secrets about it in two parts. From there, we arrived at the ArtCore Gallery, where Zsuzsa Ferenczy captivated the group with her wonderful stories.
Our last walk in March explored the Rákóczi Square and its surroundings. We met at the M4 metro entrance at Rákóczi Square and set off in the direction of the Hall. After that, we headed towards Verstaden Budapest, where Pálma Pintér introduced the store with remarkable kindness. From there, we returned to the Rákóczi Square Market Hall, where we received a fantastic guided tour and once again explored the nooks and crannies of the hall. We concluded our walk on Víg Street, at Szabad Újhely, where Csongor greeted us with divine bites.
Thank you for joining us, and we look forward to many more experiences in April and May! Join us!
