More than a hundred people joined us during our walks in September
The Days of Cultural Heritage draw attention across Europe to the preservation and presentation of past values, to which Shopping and Thematic Streets have been joining for over ten years. The roots of the program go back to 1984, when closed monuments were first opened to the public in France. Hungary joined the initiative in 1999, and since then has opened its doors to interested visitors every September. This year we prepared three special walks: we explored the Bartók Béla Boulevard, discovered the secrets of the city walls near Fashion Street, and wandered in the KultUnio district. These tours are not just city sightseeing but also community experiences, highlighting the values of local businesses alongside built heritage. The aim of the programs is to showcase how the past and present coexist in the heart of the city. With the support of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK), we also connected with World Tourism Day on September 27. The message of the day is that tourism connects, creates value, and builds community. In this spirit, we welcomed everyone who wished to discover Budapest's cultural and commercial face with new eyes. On this day, we visited the Margit Quarter and Ráday Street.
We are grateful to all the guides, businesses, and of course to you, who participated, allowing us to spend a few pleasant hours together while gaining new knowledge and getting to know several dedicated and unique entrepreneurs.
On September 20, 2025, we started with a pleasant walk on the Bartók Béla Boulevard. In addition to many interesting historical and cultural facts, we were able to get to know two locations more closely. Our first stop after Gárdonyi Square was the Művház Kávézó, which recently opened on Bartók. They offered us very delicious coffee, and we learned that it is the little brother of the Kelet Kávéház, although it is different in style and repertoire. We continued our journey through Móricz Zsigmond Square all the way to Kosztolányi Dezső Square, where we took a turn and entered towards Bucharest Street. Here we visited the new spot in the square, which runs under the name Tranzit by Flow and awaits its visitors with a truly special new menu. Stop by if you're in the area.
In the afternoon, we continued our city tour on Fashion Street, traveling together with some of our lovely guests to the next walk. Thank you for the company and for joining us whenever possible
We started from the Vigadó, where we heard about the statues on the building, the old city wall, the history of the Mahart Headquarters, and many other stories. At Vörösmarty Square, we saw the twenty-krajczár coin and learned how it got there. Our first stop on Fashion Street was at the Deák Palace, where we could view the gallery and enjoyed a wonderful view from the rooftop terrace. From here, we headed towards Deák Square, but before leaving Fashion Street, we visited Lush. Eszter, as a well-prepared salesperson, introduced us to almost every type of product, and there were some we could even try out. Thank you very much for the attentive hospitality. If it is important to you to use products that have not been tested on animals and are also vegetarian, then you definitely belong here; the selection is quite rich, from personal care cosmetics to special masks.
The next day, on September 21, we visited KultUni. We started from the City Hall park, from where there is a wonderful view of this corner of Erzsébetváros. We continued our way through Madách Square and then Madách Street, where we also visited Plante, where everything is a plant. Here we also viewed the Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue from the outside.
After that, we reached Holló Street through Gozsdu Court, then went up Dob Street, stopping at Janikovszky Éva Park. We looked at several painted firewalls, getting a glimpse into this world as well. From there, we went to Klauzál Square and finally rested at Massolit Budapest Books and Cafe on Nagy Diófa Street, enjoying some refreshments. Thank you!
On World Tourism Day, we could join two information-rich and experience-filled walks. In the morning, we strolled through the Margit Quarter, close to the banks of the Danube. Our first stop was at the Kimpton BEM Budapest, where the director provided a detailed overview of the hotel, and we even got to see the presidential suite. From there, we headed to the Király bath, then returned to the Bem office building via Ganz Street. Here, our guide presented us with another historical bouquet, accompanied by numerous pictures. Finally, we reached Margit Boulevard through Fekete Sas Street, where we could enjoy a well-deserved waffle at Dugattyús!
Our last walk in September took us to Ráday Street. In fact, we hadn't walked in Ráday Street since the beginning of the year, because previously Dr. György Orbán led these walks. Fortunately, Szilvia Péter agreed to take over Ráday Street, and we will be showcasing its various faces together in the future. We did just that this time, when in this street known for its culinary units, we focused more on the cultural aspect. We started at Kálvin Square and after the initial section of Ráday Street, we visited the Ferencvárosi Pinceszínház located on Török Pál Street. We explored the small yet charming spaces with a pleasant atmosphere and learned about past and currently running performances. After that, we returned to Ráday Street and examined its eclectic buildings. We viewed the exterior of the Ráday Collection building, and there will definitely be a walk where we will go inside. However, this time we visited the Stúdió K Színház, which has many useful spaces, and we saw some really exciting solutions for how the auditorium and backstage dressing rooms operate. Visit them; you will definitely have a unique experience. Further along the street at number 40 on Ráday is the MyChoccy family chocolate manufactory. They offer a beautiful selection of bonbons, wines, and almost every form of chocolate. We also received tastings in the form of bonbons and hot chocolate. Of course, we had to take some with us, and every bite was a real journey. Thank you very much! From there, we got a bit stuck near the collegium heading towards Bakáts Square, but thus we closed a perfect early evening.
Thank you for being with us in September! The walks will continue in October and November as well! Join us!
