May Experiences in Buda - Spring Thematic Walks 2026 report - May
In May, the Spring Thematic Walks series continued with two completely different yet equally successful walks. Both programs were fully booked, and it was once again proven that Budapest's well-known streets hold plenty of discoveries for those who keep their eyes open.
From Shooting Range to Lifestyle - A Walk on Lövőház Street
On May 15, we explored the past and present of Budai Lövőház Street, guided by Szilvia Péter. Participants learned how the former shooting club area transformed over the decades into one of the defining locations of the Budai lifestyle.
Alongside historical curiosities, the vibrant present of the neighborhood also took a prominent role this time. During our walk, we got a glimpse into the charming garden and magnificent building of Haris Park, where just a few steps from the urban hustle and bustle, we discovered a unique green oasis. Mátyás Ambrus shared fascinating stories with us; we were truly lucky to receive a full guided tour. Following that, we also explored the environmentally conscious secondhand store Replacc, where we became familiar with the world of sustainable fashion and reimagined objects.
The afternoon was made complete by the delights of Erdei Fagyizó, where participants received a truly special and fitting conclusion to the walk. The good mood was further enhanced by the many curious questions from attendees.
Culture, Illusion, and Urban Vibe on Bartók Béla Boulevard
The next day, we headed to Bartók Béla Boulevard, where we explored one of Budapest's most exciting cultural axes under the guidance of Emese Németh.
During our walk starting from Gárdonyi Square, we not only learned about the history of the area and its continuous renewal, but we also visited several special venues. The welcoming atmosphere of the Figaro Magic Shop was a perfect start to the program, where the boundaries between everyday reality and illusion blurred for a short time with Vince's help.
Our next stop was the Művház Café, where we discussed entrepreneurship and the economy over a delicious coffee with the participants.
The May events once again showed that Budapest's most exciting stories often hide in the everyday locations: in a park's garden, in a special shop, among the shelves of a magician's store, or in a contemporary art space. We thank all participants for joining us, as well as our partners and hosts for their warm welcome. In June, we will explore more facets of Ferencváros together on Ráday Street, Tompa Street, and Ferenc Square. We invite all interested parties to the last stops of the spring walking series!
