Királyutca-Designutca Cluster – Király Street
From July of 2009 the owners of the shops in Király Street started to organize special events together to revive this unique area of Budapest. This initiation was so successful that they established „Királyutca-Designutca” Cluster in March 2010. At the beginning the cluster’s activity focused on the part between Deák Ferenc Square and Nagymező Street. The importance of Király Street is in its history, because in the 19th century it was the main road of Pest and also the street of merchants then later of textile manufacturers. The cluster is a non-governmental initiation. Its main goal is to bring the old fame and interest of Király Street back and to increase the commercial magnitude of this area. The members of the cluster want to enhance the surroundings of existing shops and reopen the empty ones with the help of residents and other non-governmental organizations. To reach this goal the cluster organizes many events in every year.
Our Mission
Promote the development of the Király Street, which is colorful, buzzing with life and deserves the title of Design street. We will strengthen the multicultural character of the street, which is not only beautiful, but also meaningful. The ancient history of Király Street allows for the culture and rich entertainment.
